Introducing...BeBe Gunns!

So we got a kitten.
Her name is BeBe Gunns and she's the cutest little bundle of mischief and joy.
We weren't planning on a kitten, but my sister's boyfriend's cat unexpectedly had kittens and my sister couldn’t stand the thought of loosing them to strangers so, because I’m a pushover and I can’t bear to see my baby sister cry, I said we’d take her favourite until she had a place of her own where she could keep her. This was nice of me. However, there was then one kitten left and after it rapidly became apparent that my husband was so unspeakably excited at the prospect of getting my sister’s kitten I realised that we were destined for trouble down the line when my sis eventually wanted said kitten back so as a result I agreed to take the last kitten as well to save my husband from heartbreak. Needless to say I wasn’t particularly thrilled by this arrangement at first (I’m a dog person) but the second BeBe showed up I turned into an embarrassing ball of mush and I now adore her completely. So that’s how we came to be the proud owners of BeBe Gunns and are soon to be kittysitting my sister’s little fluffy monster who may or may not be named Opie (my sister is indecisive).

    That's the best thing I've read so far today. I love it when people get cats. I've got two myself which I saved from death row here. Generally Americans aren't like us Brits when it comes to animals.

    We are totally soft, aren't we? I'm appalled to say that I actually, quite seriously, looked at kitty Halloween costumes on the internet the other day. I checked myself just in time fortunately.

    I bought a witch costume for my Willow a couple of years back from the Dollar Tree (it's like a Poundland but for pikeys). She would wear the hat but the cloak made her feisty and she would run round my apartment knocking everything over as she tried to get it off. I don't recommend costumes for animals after that.

    Miss BeBe Gunns is all kinds of cute. Awesome name as well. I have three cats (two adopted from rescue) who tend to make appearances on my blog around Halloween time - because I have bought the silly costumes (Damn You, Post-Halloween Sales!) and I have the photos to prove it. I have a ladybug costume and a bat costume and they all look all kinds of stupid in them....but I do it anyway. Mother needs her cheap entertainment, you know.

I have issues with Clive Barker. In theory I should love him, the gore factor, the homoeroticism, the 80s, etc., but somehow I find his books inherently forgettable and that annoys me because I really want to love him and he insists on making that so hard for me. I keep being surprised by books of his, they jump out at me from nowhere and I discover I’ve read them and just couldn’t remember a damn thing about them. (Actually the reason CB keeps cropping up in my house at the moment is that my husband has suddenly developed something of a big boy crush on him and his novels keep dropping through my letterbox with alarming regularity and startling me with their familiarity). When I read the blurb about Coldheart Canyon I thought that it was going to be right up my street: A Hollywood Ghost Story, it promised me, I love old Hollywood, I love ghost stories, this has to be the Clive Barker book for me!
